Dine in Los Angeles Style at Ford’s Filling Station

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live. All opinions are 100% mine. Friends! You’ve GOT to try Ford’s Filling Station at the J.W. Marriott at LA Live in Los Angeles. My friend Jade and I had dinner there last week and I am still dreaming of some of the amazing food we had that night! I love that Ford’s Filling Station was created as a concept for the people of the community and is meant to be a place to refuel the mind, body and spirit. The atmosphere here is beautiful. It’s bright and airy  ...

The Magic of We All Grow

Hi friends! So I had the ultimate pleasure of attending We All Grow 2016 at the Hotel Maya in beautiful Long Beach last month. Talk about a powerhouse of amazing energy and inspiring bloggers! One of the things I absolutely love about We All Grow is that the attendees are almost entirely Latina, which breeds some incredible energy and friendships. It’s not a Latina conference per say, but the organizers are almost all Latina and they support other Latinx businesses and cultures. Because of this, and so many other reasons, We All Grow is easily one of my favorite conferences. I  ...

What You Missed at LA Cookie Con & Sweets Show

Hi friends! How many of you went to LA Cookie Con & Sweets Show last month? If you didn’t get to go, here’s what you missed: a lot of cookies, sweets, beautiful cakes, and some celebrity sightings! Speaking of beautiful cakes, look at this amazing Star Wars Cake? I loved seeing R2D2, Anakin Skywalker, BB8, and Darth Vader all together in cake-form. Hello geekery! My kind of cake! Babes, it’s BUFFY! Ok, now that I got that high school geekery out of the way…the lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar told us about her new food subscription business, called Foodstirs.  ...

Visiting Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn

Hi friends! I’m super excited to share this post with you but let me first state that it may not be for everyone! As the name itself, Morbid Anatomy Museum, suggests, the museum is for those of us that like things a little on the darker side. That said, this is one of the coolest museums I visited last year and I had managed to visit quite a few. I love all things horror for so many reasons, so the Morbid Anatomy museum was right up my alley. Like I said, the following images may not be for everyone but they certainly are cool if you have a morbid and scientific heart like me! I  ...

Visiting the Brooklyn Museum

Back in July when I went to BlogHer15 in New York, I did a lot of exploring of the city on my own. I was really worried about it initially since it was my first time in New York but to tell the truth, I enjoyed my time alone exploring SO MUCH – especially as a contrast to the busy crowded but wonderful conference. One of the places I explored was the Brooklyn Museum. I spent most of my time in Brooklyn and I absolutely adored it. It’s a beautiful culturally rich place. The Brooklyn Museum reflected that quite a bit! The lithograph above is by the Guerrilla Girls and is part of  ...

That Time I Was a VOTY Honoree at BlogHer15

Hi friends!! So I know technically Blogher ’15 was back in July but I know you still wanna hear about my experience, right? Especially since you helped me get there! This was my first time at BlogHer and in New York so it was an entirely new experience for me all around. I’ve been to plenty of blogger events around Southern California but nothing like Blogher which was huge! I attended my way, which meant I skipped a lot of the panels and only attended the ones that interested me. Two of my favorite panels were the Storytelling from the LGBTQ POV and the Storytelling About  ...

Celebrate Your Special Occasion at WP24 by Wolfgang Puck

This post brought to you by JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Skinned Knees. Hello friends! Last weekend, my cub and I ended our long week with a special date night at WP24 by Wolfgang Puck in Downtown Los Angeles. Dining here was a magical experience for so many reasons that I will go into, but one of which is that the restaurant is on the 24th floor (thus the name) of a hotel at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live and the view of the city at night is breathtaking. The restaurant is the perfect place for a special dinner for both LA  ...

Street Art Antics at The Line Hotel

Hey friends! I’m just popping in to share some photos from FOREVER ago during the We All Grow Summit. My roommate at The Line Hotel (who is also my awesome amiga), Linda from UpNTheNuves, and I were planning these photos all weekend. How could you not take photos in front of this rad mural? It’s called “Look Into My Eyes” by D’Face and it’s one of my favorite pieces of street art in Los Angeles. Speaking of the We All Grow Summit, they just announced that Neutrogena is their title sponsor again. Real talk – I don’t care about most beauty  ...

Grandes Maestros at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles

Hi friends! Earlier this year I got to check out Grandes Maestros, a current exhibit (hurry, it closes September 13th!) at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. The visit was part of a field trip offered to WeAllGrow attendees. Now to date, I’ve never met a museum I didn’t at least sort of like but NHM LA is one of my absolutely favorite museums. You probably already know by now but I’m a *sucker* for animals. Not only does the Natural History Museum have beautiful dioramas, a seasonal butterfly exhibit (and a seasonal spider one), but it also has a newly renovated  ...
