Dine in Los Angeles Style at Ford’s Filling Station

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live. All opinions are 100% mine. Friends! You’ve GOT to try Ford’s Filling Station at the J.W. Marriott at LA Live in Los Angeles. My friend Jade and I had dinner there last week and I am still dreaming of some of the amazing food we had that night! I love that Ford’s Filling Station was created as a concept for the people of the community and is meant to be a place to refuel the mind, body and spirit. The atmosphere here is beautiful. It’s bright and airy  ...

Celebrate Your Special Occasion at WP24 by Wolfgang Puck

This post brought to you by JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Skinned Knees. Hello friends! Last weekend, my cub and I ended our long week with a special date night at WP24 by Wolfgang Puck in Downtown Los Angeles. Dining here was a magical experience for so many reasons that I will go into, but one of which is that the restaurant is on the 24th floor (thus the name) of a hotel at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live and the view of the city at night is breathtaking. The restaurant is the perfect place for a special dinner for both LA  ...

Grandes Maestros at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles

Hi friends! Earlier this year I got to check out Grandes Maestros, a current exhibit (hurry, it closes September 13th!) at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. The visit was part of a field trip offered to WeAllGrow attendees. Now to date, I’ve never met a museum I didn’t at least sort of like but NHM LA is one of my absolutely favorite museums. You probably already know by now but I’m a *sucker* for animals. Not only does the Natural History Museum have beautiful dioramas, a seasonal butterfly exhibit (and a seasonal spider one), but it also has a newly renovated  ...

My Girl Gang Is Magical. Is Yours?

Hey friends! So a couple of weeks ago, this magical conversation started. My rad friend Aurora Lady asked me if I would be into modeling a DIY shirt from her Feminasty series and if I would be into my super friend Daisy Noemi photographing me in a pretty park. HI! How could I possibly say no? I already knew I wanted to tell you all about Aurora’s t-shirt series but this was above and beyond what I expected! Aurora and I met almost two years ago through the zine community in Los Angeles. She is a super talented artist and wrote the zine, Don’t Hide Behind Your Skirt. I  ...

Fatshion: Eye See You

Hey friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve done a Fatshion post for you! I have been so busy with school that sometimes I just roll out of bed and go. Also Aria moved to San Diego so it’s been hard to either take photos myself or find someone else to consistently take them. Luckily, my friend Ava hooked it up in September, when we both attended one of the DTLAB #90for90 events at Traxx Bar. So for 90 days over the summer, DTLAB hosted 90 events in Downtown LA. I got to go to a few of them and they were some of my favorite end of summer events! This one in particular was  ...

Wild Mushroom Show at the LA County Arboretum

I mentioned a few posts ago about going to the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens with Aria recently for a local mushroom show put on by the Los Angeles Mycological Society. We both love visiting the Arboretum and we both think mushrooms and nature are pretty cool so going to this event was a no-brainer for us! The event was held in the main hall at the Arboretum and had educational stations, mushroom crafts, mycological exhibits, and some pretty cool vendors selling mushrooms or mushroom-themed items! We also met Alissa from Mycopigments – a site about dying fabrics  ...

Fatshion: Best Friend Date at the Arboretum

My hair looks so orange here! So you may have recently noticed that I’ve bleached my hair from its dark brown color to a blonde color. I have a hair surprise coming that I can’t wait to show you but until then, you’ll have to deal with my orange-y hair. 😉 I used to carry big purses around everywhere, all the time, stuffed full of things. Often, I would end up just pulling out my wallet, keys, and cell phone and leaving my purse in the car because I didn’t feel like lugging it around. Enter my obsession with small cross-body bags. This one by MMS Design Studio that  ...

The Ehrmann’s #MiximLove Queen Mary Extravaganza!

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Ehrmann MIXIM. All opinions are my own. This Valentine’s day, Aria, my partner James and I were invited to Ehrmann’s MiximLove event to celebrate the U.S. launch of the new Ehrmann Mixim Greek Yogurt. The free event also raised money for the Children’s Heart Foundation. The three of us were stoked that the event was held on the Queen Mary because we had never been on the ship before! As we walked up to the entrance, we were blown away by not only how huge the ship is, but also that it was bright pink!  The Queen Mary was decorated  ...
